“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful..” – Proverbs 27:6
Which of these would you rather endure?
Pains borne from the wounds inflicted by a bosom friend’s open rebuke of love?
Or the kisses of an enemy, hypocritical in nature, of course?
Don’t be mad at that friend, brother, sister, associate or even parent for sincerely pointing out your errors to you.
For even God rebukes those he loves. (Heb.12:6; Rev.3:19)
Instead, seek ways to become a better person, especially to those around you.
You must be humble enough to accept corrections and reinvent yourself, where needed.
Don’t be like the proverbial dog destined for doom that turns a deaf ear to the hunter’s whistle.
Take heed to genuine advice from loved ones without resentment.
“Open rebuke is better than secret love”, says the preceding verse before today’s scripture.
And so are the wounds of a friend inflicted via words of emotional reprimands.
The flattery of the enemy will flatten you out in the end.
But the former is bound to set you on the path of life.
Now you are well informed to make your choice.
Stay blessed.
