“And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts.” – Malachi 1:8
“Save the best for the last” – isn’t this an age-old popular saying since the days of Christ?
Arguably, at that famous wedding in Cana of Galilee, this adage may have found its root (John 2:10).
For occasions or special events, this may hold, but not so when dealing with individuals and exalted personalities.
In instances as such, the purported last must become the first and be awarded the best.
In the swapping of events for personalities is this accompanying swap of positions from last to first.
Consequently, what is deemed fit for the last must of needs now be bestowed upon the first.
Of such are the likes of gifts, presents or offerings made to another, with or without coercion.
This, more than anything else, is about respect for persons, and basic knowledge about right and wrong.
It takes this basic knowledge to discern the presentation of flawed gifts to anyone at all as being improper.
And the greater the personality, the more dishonorable, if not insulting, this misdeed.
If mortals made of flesh and blood will not be pleased with this, then why should the Highest, even the Most High, ever be?
If not fit for a friend, colleague, boss, stranger, spouse, dignitary, or anyone else in this order, then why God?
Of His priests, and by extension us all, the LORD of hosts inquires, “…: if then I be a father, where is mine honour?…” (Malachi 1:6).
This is one avoidable strait the sound-minded must never be caught in, and that being you.
If this is, or was once the case with you, then with this message comes your opportunity to retrace your steps and make amends.
Beyond our finances, before the God of the entire universe, our thanks, praise, worship, and anything else presented to Him must be of the best quality.
Give honour to whom honour is due, be it man, or particularly your Father in Heaven, being God.
A word behoves the wise.
Remain blessed.
