“16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken unto thee. 17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth,…. for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.” – Jeremiah 44:16-17
There once existed a people that drew a battle line with the Almighty via His great prophet.
In hearing, His message of warning, they heard and received.
However, in complying, they were audacious enough to respond negatively.
What a bold bunch!
Emboldened by the antecedents of their predecessors and leaders, they were reinforced by the success they enjoyed in their wrongdoing.
What being born of a woman can withstand God in battle?
Last check, such one remains unborn till eternity.
The Creator Himself of us inquires, “Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou?” (Isaiah 45:9)
We all, the entire human race, are but potsherds in His Hands.
We are forever indebted to Him in obedience and thanksgiving for this opportunity of life and the beauty thereof.
Outside of Christ, you may have enjoyed “the life” but understand that in Christ, patience is a virtue of inestimable value.
In here, things work at His pace and according to His plan, not yours.
The instructions are of the Lord God but to hearken is of us humans.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker!
Rather, let potsherds strive with potsherds, humans with humans, and leave God out of the equation.
Surrender to Jesus and be saved; obey God and live!
Remain blessed.
