“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” – Proverbs 4:7
In this life, one thing counts.
No! Not large amounts in the bank.
A treasure chest of wisdom, that is it, then anything and everything else follows.
The latter can reproduce the former an infinite number of times over, remaining indestructible itself.
However, the former is incapable of producing in you the attributes of the latter.
This position holds, barring arguments for procurement via education and upskilling.
Acquiring wisdom is a lifelong journey that begins at birth and terminates at death.
At its very root is the fear of the Lord, as depicted in scriptures (Proverbs 9:10).
Far greater than silver, gold, rubies or any other imaginable treasure the earth has to offer, is the value thereof.
Wisdom never walks alone.
Therefore, you must acquire along with it understanding and, by implication, knowledge as well.
Without this principal thing, life can indeed be a journey in frustration.
Without its allies, groping in darkness becomes synonymous with respiration.
But all of this acquisition must be meaningful and channelled in the right direction, lest it result in vanity.
Wisdom unto salvation and reverence for God as a lifestyle till death must be your end goal.
Then can you be counted among the custodians of true treasures – the very wealthy in Christ.
Then you are assured of a brightness in the likeness of the firmament at eternity, like the soul winners (Daniel 12:3).
