“ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” – Proverbs 18:21
Behold an organ so small yet mighty in impact.
A human part that has made some but destroyed many more.
Frequently underestimated in application, often due to its hasty engagement, yet extremely destructive.
On the flip side, constructive in effect, depending on the circumstance and manner of engagement.
The human tongue is versatile but best known for its fire-igniting potential in the worst of times.
By it, revelation-based utterances of wisdom proceeded forth for the likes of Joseph and Daniel culminating in their enthronement.
And by the same, damning pronouncements founded on the premise of folly and pride were made by Pharaoh and Belshazzar resulting in their downfall.
Both the bible and other annals bear records of villains and heroes thrust into the limelight by this tiny member.
Incidentally and by divine design, it is not without a master.
You are your own tongue’s boss.
You are accountable for its exploits and resulting consequences.
Love it at your peril, for in the power of the tongue lies life and death.
Life and death, not just for you alone but for multitudes you probably know nothing about.
Embrace restraint and consider before making that unretractable pronouncement.
Use yours wisely.
Remain blessed.
