“And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” – Mark 8:34
Rules, terms, and conditions are part and parcel of our everyday lives.
Without them, chaos enjoys free rein.
Predefined rules are known to govern every union, from coast to coast, and from boundary to boundary.
From as little as family associations to as large as an entire nation, the same narrative applies.
One can only be admitted into such gatherings upon agreeing to meet and live by such terms.
With Jesus, this matter is similar.
He first set this example by bearing His cross for our sake to the point of death and resurrection.
Now we must learn to reciprocate his sacrifice as individuals.
We must carry all our issues on our heads and shoulders literally to meet with Him.
Don’t even try to hold on to or hold back on anything,
For that which you wisely try to keep aside, you will foolishly lose.
And that which you voluntarily handover and lose for His sake, same you shall gain in the end.
Let that journey of self-denial commence today as you take up your cross, and follow Jesus.
