“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:” – James 1:19
For the peaceable individual comes this piece.
Here, a foolproof path to a conflict-free and harmony-filled life.
But this is not just about the peace-seeking one alone.
Rather, it is a caution to everyone the world over.
This is coming at a time when the most celebrated headlines are those that spell doom.
Even this comes more often than not from our weaknesses as humans.
It is time to rise above that fleshy weakness.
The moment is upon us to refrain from being a contributor to the many conflicts around us.
Society already has enough to grapple with daily, so why add to this?
If only, oh yes, if only we would imbibe the simple instructions here this day given.
Be swift to hear – two ears flanking one head are no design flaw by God but for a reason;
Be slow to speak – be the master of your tongue and not your tongue the master of you;
And, be slow to wrath – easier it is to tear down in anger than to build up in a world devoid of rewind features.
Just how much better this world would be if this were us all collectively and individually.
After all is said and done, what next?
In every and any circumstance, be quick to listen, thoughtful in response and immune to rage.
And this, for all true followers of Christ more than anyone else, is sacrosanct.
Remain blessed.
