“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” – Isaiah 26:3
There is that saying about the average attention span of humans being below 10 seconds.
Studies show that this metric largely differ by age grade, plus other factors.
However, a key ingredient that cannot be ignored in the equation is interest, which in itself is goal-oriented by nature.
At this point, the picture begins to become clearer as the ever-shifting and drifting human attention finds an anchor.
And at the base of them all, whether it be interests or goals, lies survival.
This, not just for humans alone, but for all life forms.
From the pit of survival to the utmost heights of self-actualization and everything else in between, the story remains the same.
Your interests and your goals, both treasures of worthy value, are the underlining factors governing your choices.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21)
And there lies the bedrock of that human folly – a disregard for matters of godliness and things of the Spirit.
Pick up a bible to read and fall asleep but switch to a novel and finish one in hours at a sitting.
Attend a church service and impatiently sit through the sermon, yet, loose count of hours before your favorite TV show.
While none of these may be your story, follow that trend through sincerely and you sure may find yours.
Where is your mind stayed? Enjoying perfect peace is indeed a product of your answer to this.
God is all you need to enjoy that peace that transcends understanding.
Whatever peace you may appear to be enjoying now, you’ve got nothing until you have this one.
Don’t wait to loose what you have before seeking for the better.
Put your trust in God now and upgrade to the best grade available anywhere this universe.
Stay blessed.
