“And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the Lord have spoken and have done it.” – Ezekiel 17:24

The truth is, everyone created by God does.
Like the trees of the field, like humans – we all come in various shapes and sizes, status-wise.
The “high and mighty”, does this strike a gong?
The “downtrodden” as well, is this any familiar?
The trees of the field, we all are in this instance, the Lord’s metaphor alluding and our status notwithstanding.
But to what end is this comparison drawn between trees and humans, and to what effect?
That the high and mighty may consider, learn and know that there exist One greater than all.
That the downtrodden and lowly might have their hope renewed in the ability of this One to initiate turnarounds effortlessly.
To the evergreen and flourishing ones, set your heart upon this One, rather than make idols of your wealth and possessions.
And to the dry, barren and seemingly striken ones, be hopeful and rejoice, for the poor and needy will not always be forgotten (Psalm 9:18).
And who is this One?
Jehovah is His name; the I AM like no other, who made all and reigns supreme over the entire universe.
By His mouth He has spoken it.
By His hand He has done all of this in time past, over and again.
And today, He lives to declare to us all that He will yet do it again, even unto good or to evil.
