“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:” – Exodus 34:14
There is a nature in every man and woman.
Not just a nature, but an attribute, when we come to understand the Fountain from which this obtains its roots.
Does the very breath of our nostrils, that indicator of the life within us, not flow from God?
So are the many attributes and characteristics we exhibit as humans, including jealousy.
However, with this tricky one, we must learn the rudiments and the limits.
There is an acceptable margin of tolerance that is entrenched in the nature of the relationship in question.
But even with this, the margin cannot be stretched beyond a mild dose, whether it be between husband and wife, parent and children, or even employer and employee, among others.
For jealousy, in its safest form and in practice, can best be described biblically as an exclusive preserve of God.
Our existence as humans, particularly as individuals, is not without a price tag.
We all are first indebted to our Almighty Creator, the Giver of life and subsistence to all.
And next to our parents or guardians to whom we have so graciously been handed over from birth and infancy.
A third layer of indebtedness would be that borne out of our associations and interactions with other beings over the course of our journey here on earth.
In each of these relationships and for every entity, a rightful sense of ownership may exist.
But our first and ultimate allegiance must be to God, the Almighty Creator and Sustainer of us all.
Where and when this loyalty goes missing, we risk arousing the jealousy of JEALOUS.
Be wary of what you prioritize, lest you wittingly or unwittingly exalt such above God in your life.
Esteem God above all, animate and inanimate.
This is a worthy expression of your genuine love for Him.
Stay blessed.
