“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” – Matthew 5:44
Approach this from the angle of love and understanding.
Embrace a deep sense of reverence for the Authority from Whom this commandment emanates.
Vengeance may seem proper and sweet for enemies;
But this God to Whom vengeance belongs knows better and has far better plans than yours.
Find solace in the words of that ancient wise king and biological son of David, King Solomon, that says thus –
“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you” – Prov.25:21-22.
Easier said than done, one may think, but, the scriptures are the scriptures.
If it is written, it is written to be obeyed and for our profit.
Our delightsome compliance is all we need to render to God afterwards.
This gospel of Love is complete and perfect enough, embrace it!
Stay blessed.
