“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” – Proverbs 18:24
In fellow humans, this standard may be hard to obtain but in Jesus, it is only a piece of cake.
Hard to obtain with our kind because of the flesh component of every human that is prone to faltering and failure.
Easier with the Son of God because no one knows us better than the One that made us.
Better than our childhood friends;
Better than our folks;
And even better than spouses, for the married.
He knew us before we were fashioned in the womb as acknowledged by the prophet Jeremiah.
The question now is, who is that friend of yours that sticks closer than a brother or sister?
Who is this distinguished one of yours that you know for sure, come rain, come sunshine, will never fail you?
If that person is human, expect no more than natural results from him or her.
If none, that’s much worse, because two are better than one (Eccl. 4:9-12).
And if Jesus, congratulations! You are on the right course.
To everyone else, you are admonished to invest your tokens of friendship here in Jesus for unimaginable returns.
You will never find another one like Him out there that has got you covered, 24/7/52.
