“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” – John 8:12
Just what does it mean to be the Light of the World?
This is one of those questions with dimensions beyond the imaginations of mortals.
The sun, we know.
The stars also, we know.
Fire and lightning are no strangers as well.
Then comes the various man-made light sources.
But none of these, natural or artificial, in their full resplendence, are a match for the One that shines brightest as the Light of the World.
By Him and for Him were all the others made in the first place.
Why extol the lesser above the greater?
This same Light, it is, that lights the path of humans, with all inventions under the sun owing their existence to Him.
Knowledge, they say, is light, but never far away from knowledge are wisdom and understanding.
Take away all these from man and gross darkness prevails.
The same is the abode of stagnation, standstill, and death.
Flee darkness and embrace the Light.
Come to the Light of the World and have your life lit up for life.
Jesus Christ is this Light, even our Light of Life.
