“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” – Isaiah 53:3
“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34).
This was the response from Jesus at the height of His persecution on the cross of death.
This, in response to a generation that despised and rejected Him, even to the point of death.
The fact that it all was in fulfilment of God’s plan may seem to have watered down the ill meted out.
However, generations have come and gone, yet the rejection and contempt for Christ live on painfully.
If people of that era were truly ignorant at heart and in action, what is our alibi in the modern age?
Pardon was sought for ignorance, and with that era went that justification.
Now the tune is different.
Do not wait to see if you will be that fortunate as they were back then.
Of a truth, we might be enjoying His dispensation of grace presently, but is this not reserved for the living alone?
As Jesus was acquainted with grief and sorrows to the death, so are we appointed to the same death, in both cases, once and no more.
For Jesus, unto undisputed eternal glory without choice.
But for us, unto eternal glory of the same likeness, or a despairing eternal damnation – but with choice.
Learn from history and be wise about your choice and salvation.
Now is the time to act right, and that, by deciding for and settling with Christ all the way.
Remain blessed.
