“The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” – 2 Samuel 23:3
To all leaders and rulers in whatever capacity, the world over, this admonition comes.
From the mouth of one far greater than you and whose legacy yours may never outshine this stems from.
The ultimate source of this message handed down to this legendary earthly king eliminates any room for deliberations.
King David of Israel received this evergreen command with values that hold forever.
The God of Israel and the Creator of ALL, described by David as the Rock of Israel, by His Spirit admonished all rulers thus.
If you must rule over people, any group of people at all, then you must possess the fear of God.
If you must assume a leadership position over a group of humans, you must be just in your dealings.
The reasons are not far-fetched.
They are hinged on a deep understanding of the critical factors underlining the authority you have been entrusted with.
Where the fear and Knowledge of God are lacking, wisdom and understanding are gone missing.
For the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)
Conversely, the absence of this fear ushers in a regime devoid of divine wisdom and discretion.
Here, the fabrics of bad governance berth, with chaos and conflict tending towards warfare at its peak.
Aren’t we too familiar with scenarios of this nature globally?
Outside the knowledge of this Holy One and reverence for His Being, there isn’t much good to report.
For again it is written, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” – Proverbs 29:2.
But show me that ruler with the fear of God and I will show you one so defended and blessed beyond reach.
As the light of the morning, when the sun rises, so is the dominion of this one.
Even as the tender grass springs out of the earth by clear shining after the rain.
Now that this truth is revealed, where would you rather be found as a leader?
It is time to put down pride, glory and self, and put on God and godliness for a change.
The Most Merciful God awaits your turnaround, for the erring.
To the obedient, stay on track to the end.
Remain ever blessed.
