AN EYE FOR AN EYE, NO MORE!

“See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:15

There is no point playing the hypocrite here by trying to force this down anyone’s throat.

This, indeed, is a difficult saying; who can comply? And if successfully practised, who can, consistently?

But we must be quick to remind ourselves of the Source from where this instruction comes before seeking justification for our ability or inability to comply.

Start with the part that depends on you and do that diligently, being good to everyone you come in contact with habitually.

The earth is governed by the law of seedtime and harvest, so it is what you sow that more often than not returns to you as a fruit.

Then comes the inevitable situation of wrongdoing by another, in spite of your righteousness.

At such times, remember, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:19; Deuteronomy 32:35).

You need pluck out no eye to arrive at that self-fulfilling vengeful desire

Now you have the decision to make – take up your sword in hand and avenge yourself, disobeying your Creator in the process, or hand over the battle to Him to fulfil His promise of vengeance on your behalf?

Trust me, the latter is sweeter and better.

Stay blessed.
